What it is: A molecule made in a lab.
Where it comes from: not found in nature
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: The classic strawberry note for red-fruit accords, candy gourmands and fruity florals.
Worth knowing: Called an aldehyde, it contains no aldehyde group at all: it is an ester and an epoxide.
Also called: Ethyl methylphenylglycidate; strawberry aldehyde; strawberry glycidate
