What it is: A molecule made in a lab, first made by Givaudan in 2005.
Where it comes from: two positional isomers
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Ultra-potent amber-wood booster for power and stability, especially in fabric care and fine fragrance.
Worth knowing: Often worked in dilution because of its power; paired 30:70 with Kephalis it suggests cistus (rockrose).
Also called: Ambermax 50 / Ambermax 10 (dilutions); tricyclic undecenyl propanol
