What it is: Natural oil from steam-distilled seeds of Abelmoschus moschatus.
Where it comes from: India, Ecuador
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Natural plant musk; adds velvety, skin-like musk and fruit-wine nuances to florals and orientals.
Worth knowing: It owes its musk scent largely to ambrettolide, a ring-shaped lactone chemically akin to animal musks.
