Like bergamot, a touch flatter: clean citrus, lavender-like ester, soft floral.

What it is: Natural oil from bergamot peel oil, rectified or distilled to strip furocoumarins.
Where it comes from: Calabria
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: The everyday perfumer's bergamot: bergamot sparkle at doses skin-safety rules would forbid for the raw oil.
Worth knowing: Untreated bergamot can stain sun-exposed skin in streaks, called berloque dermatitis after the pendant-like drip marks.
Rules: Limited. Meets phototoxicity limits; limonene peroxide specification still applies
