Rye-bread spice, warm, sweet and minty-herbal.

What it is: Natural oil from seeds of Carum carvi.
Where it comes from: Netherlands, Hungary, Egypt
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: Adds a rye-bread spiciness to aromatic, fougère and unusual gourmand accords.
Worth knowing: Its main molecule, d-carvone, is the mirror image of spearmint's l-carvone, yet smells completely different.
Rules: Limited. Limited through its carvone content (IFRA, 2020).
