Carrot seed oil

Earthy, dry woody-rooty with orris-like powderiness and a faint fruity sweetness.

What it is: Natural oil from seeds of wild carrot, Daucus carota.
Where it comes from: France, Hungary, India
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Budget orris support and earthy modifier in chypres, fougères and violet or mimosa accords.
Worth knowing: Its main component, carotol, gives an earthy iris effect that perfumers use to stretch costly orris butter.
