Soft, musky-woody, spicy-fruity and piney, like warm cashmere or dusty velvet.

What it is: A molecule made in a lab, first made by IFF in 1969.
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Adds diffuse, cosy musky-wood warmth and a textural cashmere softness to woody and ambery accords.
Worth knowing: Named after the fabric, not a tree: 'cashmere wood' in a note list usually means this synthetic.
Known in: Cashmere Mist (Donna Karan, 1994)
