Cedarwood oil (Himalayan)

Warm, sweet, resinous woody cedar, closely resembling Atlas cedarwood.

What it is: Natural oil from wood of Cedrus deodara.
Where it comes from: northern India, Nepal, Pakistan
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Cheaper, similar alternative to Atlas cedar for warm resinous-woody accents.
Worth knowing: Its name comes from Sanskrit 'devadāru', meaning 'wood of the gods'; the tree is sacred in India.
Also called: Cedrus deodara; deodar cedar
