What it is: Natural oil from steam-distilled flowering tops.
Where it comes from: Russia, Bulgaria, France
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Ambery-herbal bridge in fougères, chypres and ambers; adds warmth and a natural musky glow.
Worth knowing: The crop yields two materials: the oil distils off, while waxy sclareol is extracted from the leftover plant.
