Dry, resinous green conifer; smoky-woody, clean and slightly ambery.

What it is: Natural oil from steam-distilled twigs and needles.
Where it comes from: France, Spain, Morocco
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: Adds dry, sober conifer freshness to chypres, fougères and woody-aromatic accords.
Worth knowing: 'Sempervirens' means evergreen; tall cypresses traditionally line Mediterranean cemeteries.
