Deertongue absolute

Sweet hay, coumarin and tobacco with a green herbal-vanilla softness.

What it is: Natural absolute from leaves of Carphephorus odoratissimus.
Where it comes from: wild-harvested in the southeastern United States
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Adds natural hay-tobacco sweetness to fougères, tobacco and amber accords.
Worth knowing: Its leaves were long used to flavour and scent pipe tobacco.
Rules: Limited. Limited through its coumarin content (IFRA).
