Ethiopian frankincense oil

Fruity-waxy, pear-like incense from octyl acetate, over soft resin.

What it is: Natural oil from steam-distilled gum resin of Boswellia papyrifera.
Where it comes from: Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: Adds fruity-resinous brightness to incense accords; a distinctive, less terpenic frankincense style.
Worth knowing: Its resin is rich in incensole acetate, which reduced anxiety-like behavior in mice in a 2008 study.
