Fresh, rounder, fruitier linalool: bergamot-floral with a soft lavender tone.

What it is: A molecule made in a lab.
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: Stands in for linalool in fresh florals, bergamot and lavender notes, lasting longer into the heart.
Worth knowing: Unlike linalool, it is not an EU-declarable allergen, so it need not appear on perfume labels.
Also called: 3,7-dimethylnona-1,6-dien-3-ol; homolinalool

Not on the label of any of the 232 perfumes read so far.
