Where it comes from: Réunion, Madagascar

What perfumers do with it: Rose booster and fougère cornerstone; bridges citrus tops into lavender, rose and woody hearts.
Worth knowing: Named for Réunion's old name, Île Bourbon; most 'Bourbon' oil now comes from neighbouring Madagascar.
Rules: Limited. Capped via citronellol and geraniol (IFRA); EU-labeled allergen
