What it is: Natural oil from dried rhizomes of Zingiber officinale.
Where it comes from: China, India, Nigeria
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: Gives a warm-fresh spicy zing to citrus colognes, woody and oriental accords.
Worth knowing: Distillation flattens ginger toward earthy wood; the fresh lemony zing survives better in CO2 extracts.
