Smoky, sweet woody with rosy, tea-like and soft vanilla-balsamic tones.

What it is: Natural oil from wood and sawdust of Bulnesia sarmientoi.
Where it comes from: Paraguay and the Gran Chaco
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Warm, smoky-rosy woodiness for rose, vanilla and sandalwood accords; smooths and fixes heart notes.
Worth knowing: The crude oil is semi-solid at room temperature because it is packed with crystalline guaiol and bulnesol.
Rules: Limited. CITES Appendix II since 2010, covering wood, oil and extracts.
