Sweet, herbaceous clover-floral with faint wintergreen coolness and hay-like warmth.

What it is: A molecule made in a lab.
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Fougère and clover-orchid building block that tolerates high doses without turning harsh.
Worth knowing: The perfumery author W.A. Poucher preferred it to amyl salicylate for orchid bases whenever he could get it.
Also called: 2-methylpropyl 2-hydroxybenzoate
