Lemon myrtle oil

Intense creamy lemon candy; sweeter and softer than lemongrass, faintly herbal.

What it is: Natural oil from steam-distilled leaves.
Where it comes from: Australia (Queensland, New South Wales)
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: A potent natural citral note for lemon, verbena and lemon-tea accords.
Worth knowing: It is one of the richest natural sources of citral known, often above 90% of the oil.
Rules: Limited. Around 90% citral; IFRA citral limits cap its dose
Also called: Backhousia citriodora leaf oil
