What it is: Natural oil from roots or leaves of Levisticum officinale.
Where it comes from: Europe (Hungary, France, Germany)
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Traces add savoury-sweet maple-celery warmth to tobacco, leather and immortelle accords.
Worth knowing: Like fenugreek, it owes part of its maple-curry smell to sotolon.
Also called: Levisticum officinale root or leaf oil
