Mace oil

Nutmeg-like but sweeter and softer, with a fresh citrus lift.

What it is: Natural oil from dried red aril around the nutmeg seed.
Where it comes from: Indonesia, Grenada
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: A rounder, more refined nutmeg effect for spicy florals and orientals.
Worth knowing: Mace and nutmeg come from the same fruit: mace is the lacy red coat around the seed.
Rules: Limited. Limited through safrole and methyl eugenol content (IFRA).
Also called: Myristica fragrans aril oil
