Powerful, sweet jasmine with fatty, herbal and slightly fruity facets.

What it is: A molecule made in a lab, first made by Firmenich in 1957.
Where it comes from: also a plant stress hormone
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Adds natural, tenacious jasmine body; used sparingly in fine jasmine reconstructions.
Worth knowing: Plants release it when wounded, warning neighbouring plants to raise their defences.
Also called: Methyl (Z)-jasmonate; MeJA
