Bitter grapefruit peel with a dry, woody, slightly vetiver-like depth.

What it is: A molecule made from a natural raw material.
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Gives grapefruit notes body and staying power; ties citrus tops into woody bases.
Worth knowing: About 400,000 kg of grapefruit yield just 1 kg of nootkatone; in 2020 the US EPA approved it as a tick repellent.
Rules: Limited. Must be at least 98% pure (IFRA specification)
