Dry, powdery orris root with woody, earthy and faintly camphor-like notes.

What it is: A molecule made in a lab, first made by IFF in 1950.
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Economical orris-root booster; adds dry powdery iris to violet, leather, nutty and woody accords.
Worth knowing: One of the few single molecules that convincingly reproduces orris root's dry, powdery smell.
Rules: Limited. IFRA limits since 51st Amendment (2023)
Also called: 4-tert-amylcyclohexanone; orris hexanone
