Orris resinoid

Deep, earthy-sweet iris root, like dried orris powder; darker and less floral.

What it is: Natural resin extract from solvent extract of dried iris rhizomes.
Where it comes from: Italy (pallida) and Morocco (germanica)
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Affordable orris fixative with strong tenacity; gives realistic dried-root depth to iris and powdery bases.
Worth knowing: Unlike creamy-white orris butter, the resinoid is a dark brown paste so thick it is usually sold diluted.
