Intensely animal: horse stable, barnyard and tarry leather; narcissus-like in traces.

What it is: A molecule made in a lab.
Where it comes from: notable in horse urine, narcissus and coal tar
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Micro-dose animalizer and floralizer for narcissus, leather and barnyard effects.
Worth knowing: Horse urine is rich in it, which is why perfumers describe its smell as 'stable'.
Rules: Limited. IFRA 51 caps it at 0.005% in finished products.
Also called: 4-Methylphenol; para-cresol
