What it is: A molecule made in a lab.
Where it comes from: a synthetic cousin of citronellol and phenylethyl alcohol
When you smell it: Heart: the first hours.
What perfumers do with it: Long-lasting, stable rose body; stands in for rose absolute at large doses.
Also called: 3-Methyl-5-phenylpentanol; Mefrosol (Givaudan); phenylhexanol
