Powerful fruity rose with apple, plum and raisin.

What it is: A molecule made in a lab, first made by Givaudan in 2001.
Where it comes from: damascone-like odorant not found in nature
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: High-impact fruity-rose booster adding juicy lift and diffusion to masculine and feminine fragrances.
Worth knowing: Philip Kraft's team made it only to check a misidentified trace impurity, and found a better rose.
Known in: 1 Million (Paco Rabanne, 2008); Legend (Montblanc, 2011)
Rules: Limited. IFRA restricted since the 51st Amendment (2023)
Also called: (2E,5Z)-5,6,7-Trimethylocta-2,5-dien-4-one
