What it is: Natural absolute from solvent-extracted from dried brown seaweed, mainly in France.
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: Real-sea authenticity for marine, chypre and leather accords; used heavily diluted
Worth knowing: Calone's molecular shape resembles the scent signals brown seaweeds use to find mates.
Also called: algue; bladderwrack (Fucus) or kelp (Laminaria) absolute; seaweed CO2
