What it is: A molecule made in a lab, first made by Givaudan in 1967.
Where it comes from: proprietary synthetic
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: Strengthens and modernizes green notes; the backbone of fig-leaf, tomato and blackcurrant-leaf effects.
Worth knowing: One of perfumery's rare oximes, it helps rebuild fig-leaf notes now that the natural absolute is banned.
Known in: Azzaro Pour Homme (Azzaro, 1978); Oscar Pour Lui (Oscar de la Renta, 1980); Balade Sauvage (Dior, 2018)
