Natural resin extract from balsam from wounded Liquidambar orientalis bark.

Dry-down: hours later.

What perfumers do with it

Classic leather and amber ingredient; adds dark balsamic smoke and fixation to leathers, ambers and hyacinth.

Worth knowing

Styrene, the building block of polystyrene, was first isolated from storax and is named after it.

Rules

Limited. IFRA bans crude gum; only capped extracts and distillates allowed.
