Vanilla absolute (Tahitian)

Floral, fruity vanilla with cherry, anise and heliotrope-like facets.

What it is: Natural absolute from cured pods of Vanilla tahitensis.
Where it comes from: French Polynesia, Papua New Guinea
When you smell it: Dry-down: hours later.
What perfumers do with it: A softer, more floral vanilla for white florals and delicate gourmands.
Worth knowing: It holds less vanillin than Bourbon vanilla but more anise-scented molecules, which give its cherry-floral lilt.
