Intensely bitter, dry-green herb; camphoraceous with a dark aromatic depth.

What it is: Natural oil from steam-distilled leaves and flowering tops.
Where it comes from: Europe and North Africa
When you smell it: Top notes: the first minutes.
What perfumers do with it: Tiny doses add a bitter, absinthe-like green shadow to aromatic and green accords.
Worth knowing: Absinthe takes its name from this plant; the drink's feared madness, blamed on thujone, was largely myth.
Rules: Limited. Thujone-rich; IFRA thujone limits cap its dose
